I'm Back! $ It's time to catch up! #

8.29.2010

It feels like an eternity since I've been on blogger. I haven't been able to catch up on other blogs yet either, but I will soon hopefully! :) I can't wait to read about whats been going on since I've been away! :)

& WOW! What a vacation! I had a WONDERFUL TIME! And between me and the two other ladies that were on the trip, we probably accumulated over 500 pictures. I don't even know which ones to post because there are so many! :) Regardless, the cruise was awesome, but I am dreading 8 a.m. tomorrow. I can't believe my vacation went by SO fast! :( It feels just like yesterday! (BIG sigh)...

Hubby and I had some really great talks this week. We talked about "What's Next" and things we wanted to do to help better ourselves and our lives. Does anyone else do this while on vacation? I feel like it's so much easier to just step back and take a look at your life when you are on vacay. Am I right? Vacation sometimes is more than just a get-away, and a glass of wine. It's a time to sit back, put your feet up, dissolve your stress, and allow your mind to focus on the REAL important things like LIFE, HEALTH, LOVE, FAMILY, and the things you may take for granted on a day to day basis. I am sure we can all admit to always being stuck in a routine that sucks the life out of you. It's always GO-GO-GO...and then you find yourself saying, "I want to do this, BUT I don't have time" or the "I wish we could...". I could really go on forever...

Bottom line, Drew and I are making changes. GOOD changes, for the better. And I'm not saying that what we have isn't great, because it is, and we are both very thankful. We just realized that there are things that we need to do, want to do, and WILL do. We put things off, and use the "No Time" and "No Energy" excuse a lot. A lot of our problem is comfort and routine, rather than just GOING FOR IT and DOING IT!

We have a pretty thick list of things we are going to start working on, but here are three that I want to share with you.

1. Find a church we both feel is deserving of our faith. We moved to our area a little over a year ago, and have experimented with a few churches, but none felt right. Not that the services weren't worthy, but they just weren't our cup of tea. We both grew up and our families instilled church and faith into our lives every single Sunday. We still go to church, of course, but it isn't as often as it should be. Sunday is usually the only day we can catch up our sleep on, especially since I work two jobs. But, I find this no excuse. Church shouldn't be a "when I feel like it" or "when I have time" destination. It WILL BE a mandatory thing, unless we are out of town or have a REALLY good reason not to attend (emergency, illness or something). It's not like I can say, "Oh, it's Monday...I don't feel like going to work because I am tired." I mean, I wish I could do that, but that is not realistic by any means. Church will now be this way as well.

2. Once we find our church and join the church family, we would like to join in a couple's bible study. I can honestly admit, I've never done a bible study. I have within my church as a young girl, but I never did in college because I was occupied with a million extra curricular activities, a job, and of course, classes (Still not a great excuse, I know). Anyway, this is something we would LOVE to do, and we feel like it would help us meet more people in our city, learn, love, and serve our Lord to the fullest.

3. Follow our dreams. There are SO many things I love doing, hobbies really. I want to try and see if these things can work out for me professionally. Right now I am in the middle of opening up my own event coordinating/wedding planning business, but photography, and making things is also something I adore. I want to try more things, such as learning how to read music, and maybe even taking violin lessons. If you know me, I've never played an instrument. I can play little 5 second melodies like "When the Moon Hits your Eye like a Big Pizza Pie, that's Amore'" on the piano, but that's about it. I am well aware that learning how to play an instrument is extremely difficult, and there is a very high chance that it will not work out for me, but I atleast want to try. Why not? There are other things that I want to do, that are well...very far fetched, and I feel embarassed to even bring them up on here. So for now, I'll let those things lie low, but maybe soon I'll share them :) I plan on living by the, "You'll never know unless you try!" motto. :)

I love vacations. They make me so happy and they make me wake up from reality! :) I already can't wait for our next one, which will be snowboarding this winter! Can I get a WHOOP WHOOP!? :P

  1. aw such cute pictures and good for you for making a list! It definitely helps hold you more accountable. And I agree with you about vacation, it seems like when you are out of the day to day stuff it is easier to look at your life.

  3. Your blog is adorable! I can relate to the church topic as well! We've moved to a new area a little over a year ago and I completely agree, it's not "our cup of tea" same goes with vacations you really can step back and analyze where you are in life and what goals you want to achieve! Where did you giving your cruise? Looks like fun!

  4. Sounds like so much fuN! Yes, hubby and I DO have those talks on vacation. It's so great to be able to talk without distraction or exhaustion and just share with each other from your hearts. Your goals sound wonderful! I'm all for reaching for your dreams (no matter how far-fetched they may seem). In fact I wrote about that last week myself here: http://windy-poplars.blogspot.com/2010/08/dreaming-in-gold.html
