When I first dreamed of remodeling our kitchen I wanted dark brown cabinets. I liked that whole dark look, and still do.
However, I started looking at kitchens online and I fell in love with the white, clean, and pure look. So, now here I sit with white cabinets and gray walls.
When I look at all the white kitchens, the backsplash is very simple. It's either a white brick, or something like this:
Then, I saw this one at Lowes and I really liked it.
It's got white marble, gray, and a hint of blue in it. I don't know why I liked it, because I never really was a BLUE person. For some reason blue and gray is taking over my house.
My problem is, I am the worst decision maker on the planet. The worst, I swear. I will buy something, doubt my purchase, and will then convince myself I don't like it and that I should have gone with the other choice.
I ended up buying this one...and now I'm just not sure.
When we put our house on the market in a few years, I don't want our kitchen to be the reason it doesn't sell. I am SO scared of that.
SO, PLEASE...PLEASE be honest and let me know if you think this backsplash is a bad decision. I will appreciate your honesty...I promise.
My Mom, my brother, my sister-in-laws, and my Andrew bumpkin head love it.
I like it. I love it. I don't like it. I hate it. I can't decide...
Help? Please... :)
And here are some pics just for fun...beware, one is a little inappropriate. I couldn't help myself...and I can't lie, I laugh everytime I look at it. Sorry if it offends you...my Mom laughed and hit me on the head. She loves me. &&& she'd probably kill me if she knew I put this on here. Oh well... ;)
I just started reading your blog and I have to say I love it. As far as your kitchen goes I love the one you bought the colors are great and I think they will compliment the cabinet color and wall color well. I have something similar to the first one you showed and it drives me crazy I always think it looks dirty and in pictures it looks dirty. I cant wait to see it when it is all finished!
ReplyDeleteSO I wasn't entirely sold on it when I saw the picture of JUST the tiles BUT when I saw the picture with your mom holding under the cabinets, I fell in love. I think the tile you bought compliments the cabinet beautifully!
ReplyDeleteI like it! I think it's neutral enough that it won't affect resale value. If it was like neon green and purple or something, then we might have to discuss other options! haha
ReplyDeleteI love it!! I don't think this will affect resale at all. It's clean and still traditional but more modern than your original pick. I vote yes! You are too cute. :) Love your new header btw.
ReplyDeleteI like it a lot! I think it is just the right amount of color to add a little pop in your kitchen, but not too much to where someone else would not want to buy the house because of it. I think the first option screams a little more old-school to me, and the choice you went with seems much more modern and gives it the right touch. I definitely say keep it! Can't wait to see how it turns out. :)
ReplyDeleteI like it, Shay! I am no design expert, but I would definitely buy the house- I love backsplashes in general! And that picture is hilarious. My momma would have hit me in the head too!
ReplyDeleteI love it!! Don't second guess it. I really love the white cabinets too.
ReplyDeleteOkay, my dear, I really really like the backsplash you chose. I have dreams about pretty glass tiles in muted tones so my vote is a loud YES! :)
ReplyDeleteYou're right, a lot of white kitchens have simple backgrounds...I think all three look really good! I'm sure when you're done you're going to love whichever one you chose!
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'm too late, but I love love LOVE that classic marble subway tile backsplash... the one you got is nice, but it's quite modern and might turn off buyers in the future. Just my humble opinion!! ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd omg. Regarding your new blog header? I had no idea you live in AUSTIN!! Or maybe I did, and just forgot?? I don't know, but we could be NEIGHBORS!!! :) :)
I'm new to your blog, so I'm not sure if you're done with the kitchen. I'll have to snoop around more. :) Looking good! (Funny pic.)
ReplyDeleteWe just redid ours (FINALLY - hallelujah!). It's a transitional look - dark cabinets and dark granite...through Lowe's, too.
Back-splash is creme marble mosaic tiles with custom glass inserts. Have you thought about under cabinet lighting? My hub did it. Makes a huge difference.
Take a peak...
