Going back home is something that I don't get to do as often as I'd like anymore. They say home is where the heart is and that couldn't ring more true.
Home is where I can go and feel peace. It's where I feel the most safe, it's that one place that I can truly just be and breathe. It's where I can unwind, clear my thoughts, kick my feet up, eat until I have to unbuckle my pants, have meaningful conversations, spend time with family, forget about the hustle and bustle back at home, and not worry about those problems that plague me within the walls of my world.
I grew up in the country. Hay bales, cows, bumpy-small country back roads, the smell of grass and cow poo, and the sweet music of crickets at night are what make me feel centered and whole again. Looking up at that big black sky speckled with those millions of diamonds...it's home. It's a place I love to go, where I love to be and a place I really need to escape to more often.
Home is where I am in my world where everything around IS me.
I think this little trip back home was exactly what I needed.
My heart is still here.
