Thank you from the bottom of my $!

12.30.2010

Hi sweet ladies!

Things are extremely busy around here, but I just wanted to let y'all know my sister-in-law is doing great. The prayers were heard, and God is GOOD! We were in the waiting room for over 9 hours yesterday and all I can say is that Christi is so very loved. The surgery went smooth, and they had no complications. They think they got the entire tumor, and the biopsy report should be done in the next few days.

Thank you so much for all of the sweet comments, and for all of the prayers. I know Christi would hug each and every one of you if she could! Me too! :) Please continue to pray because we aren't out of the woods just yet...but so far so good. She is stable, and she is responsive. It really is a blessing!

I just can't thank you enough! :)

Please Pray $

12.28.2010

Hi everyone!

I want to post about my Christmas, but right now I need to post about something much more important. My sister-in-law Christi and my family are in major need of prayers right now. It just seems that my family can't catch a break...do you remember this post? After their house flooded two years in a row, they finally just got back into their beautiful home before Christmas. I was actually JUST at their house the Sunday before Christmas and Christi and I were talking about how we have both been having headaches lately, and how I thought it was from the Cedar, and she thought she had a sinus infection.

Fast forward to the Sunday after Christmas. Andrew and I were driving home from his parents house (4 hour drive) and I was on my phone playing on facebook. I was scrolling down and I saw a status that my nephew Matt had wrote. I froze. I re-read it four times before I could actually comprehend what my eyes were reading.

I called my brother (Christi's husband) and no answer. So I then called my niece Mallory and she answered, crying.

Christi went to the hospital on Sunday because her headaches were getting really bad, and she thought she had a sinus infection. They ended up doing an MRI on her and they sent her home. A few hours later the ER called her and wanted her to come in.

They found a tumor in her abdula oblongata, right above the spinal cord. She is having surgery tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. and I know everything is in His hands. I have faith that everything will be okay, but I can't help but reach out and ask for prayers. After surgery we will know what stage cancer the tumor is in, and she will have to have radiation and possibly chemotherapy.

My sister-in-law is a strong, brave, and amazing woman. She is the most loving mother and wife, and God knows how much she means to me and so many people. I love her so much, and can't even imagine not having her in my life.

My niece Mallory started a small little blog to keep everyone updated if you want to check it out: www.christiming.wordpress.com

Please, please say a prayer for her. I'm trying to stay strong, but my Gosh, this is so so hard.

Thanks ladies, I appreciate it more than you'll ever know. ♥

So much to blog about...

Helloooooooooooooooooooooooooo there! :) It has been forever y'all! I know! I don't even know if I can remember everything that has gone on the past couple of weeks, but let's see if I can catch you up. Hmmm...

Well, since I am currently watching HGTV (addicted) and making white chocolate macadamia & chocolate chip/walnut cookies...Let's just say there has been a whole lot of cookie baking in this household. I will be making my famous reindeer cookies this week too, and when I do, I will be sure to share the recipe with you. They are pretty much amazing if I do say so myself.

I've been busy with just life in general: Working my 8-5 (When I get home, I'm wiped out), coordinating weddings, events, and Christmas company parties at my second job, Photo shoots, Editing pictures which is completely time consuming, Working on my photography website/blog, baking, cooking a lot, cleaning house I swear every day, visiting family, going out with friends, Christmas plays at church, just tons of little things that have deprived my energy and made me slack on my beloved blog. Ha.

Want to know something HORRIBLE? I am STILL not done with Christmas shopping...SHHH! I only have half of it done, and I have only been out ONCE in all the holiday shopping mess. Gasp! I knowwww :( I only have 2 days left, and I don't get paid again til' Friday morning. Have I mentioned how much I hate being a grown up, and how much I hate student loans, and don't get me started on how much I love to pay bills!

And you want to know something else??? I didn't even make a Christmas list this year! GASP AGAIN! Haha! Of course there are things I want, but they aren't things that I really need.

Here is a little story to let you understand what present giving is like in my family:

I didn't grow up in a wealthy family. I didn't grow up in a medium income family. My family struggled quite a bit, but my Mom always found a way to give to her kids the best she possibly could even when she didn't have the money. She always found a way to buy me a dress for a dance, or an outfit for the first day of school. She sacrificed everything for her kids.

When it comes to Christmas, she has always gone above and beyond the call of duty. I've never really understood why, and when I was younger, I really didn't know any better. Getting up and running to the tree and seeing presents was what Christmas was about to me. As I grew up, I started to understand the true meaning of Christmas. However, my Mom still continued to go overboard on gifts even when my brother and I would beg her to stop buying so much. I know, that sounds funny haha. Who doesn't enjoy getting gifts? But really, my Mom just loves presents piled up around her tree, and to the point you almost get tired of unwrapping paper. ALMOST, ;).

A few years ago, she told me a story about a Christmas we had when I was in the 1st grade. We lived in a home that we could barely afford, and my Dad had promised he would have a paycheck before Christmas so they could buy Christmas presents. (I DO remember seeing the tree, present-less, all the way up to Christmas morning.) I didn't think anything about it though because I was young and didn't really pay much attention to it. My Mom said that on Christmas Eve my Dad came home without the paycheck he had promised, and she sat there and cried and cried and cried until she couldn't cry anymore. She said she had $25 in her wallet to buy presents for my brother and me. So, she went to the Dollar Store and bought everything she could for $25. I remember waking up that morning, and my brother had stopped me by the stairs. He held me and said, "We were bad this year Shay," while wiping away his tears. I ran to the Christmas tree, saw my presents and screamed and played and did all the typical things kids do on Christmas morning. Honestly, I don't remember what was all under the tree, and I don't remember my Mom being sad. I don't remember much about this day at all. All I know is that my Mom never forgot that Christmas morning, and she swore from that Christmas on that she would do everything in her power to make sure we had a better Christmas. And needless to say, she has always done that.

It broke my heart to hear her tell me that story, because I had no idea how much she went through. I've told her a million times to control her buying habits, and what does she do? She does without and she buys more than she should. She's gotten a lot better though as I've gotten older, and this year she swears it will be small. Christmas isn't about the presents, it's about being with your family. As my brother and I get older, I feel that she has come to realize that our favorite present is just being together as a family and celebrating Jesus' birthday. I feel blessed to still be here, alive, and with a loving family. It's the best gift of all if you ask me.

Yesterday I went to my older brother's house and my sister-in-law told me something that I think I am going to apply to my family, and my children someday.

She said her friend has three kids. She buys each of her kids three presents each. Two that they want, and one that she wants to give them. Why three presents? Because that is how many Jesus received.

How perfect is this???

I told my Mom about it last night and we have agreed to do this from here on out. I love this idea, and I think it will help her, as well as me not go above and beyond. I mean, I might ONE day when I'm more well off, but for now, this sounds perfect.

Okay, so enough of present giving and story telling...

The cookies I'm making smell DELISH! Nom nom nom! :)

And now for some randomness:

I am OFF of work for the next TWO weeks from my 8-5! This is MY Christmas present to myself ;) I had 10 days I had to take off before the end of the year, and conveniently I got to take them off this week and next week. It was really nice getting things done around the house today and spending some time with my furbabies. Chicka chicka yeahhhhh! ;)

I had a photoshoot in Dallas yesterday and I had to drive on I-35...the World's Worst Highway in all Creation! I-35 a death trap. I hate it. People do not know how to drive. Just the other night...I saw a lady driving recklessly and I looked at my husband and said, "If she is texting and driving I am going to give her a GO TO HELL look!" (I have road rage, sorry ;)) And what was this lady doing????
Photobucket

TEXTING and DRIVING. I then pointed my finger and said, "No!" as if I was a teacher slapping the hand of a 1st grader. I'm sorry but it's dangerous. Your text can wait. Facebook can wait. It's not worth it lady! :)

And here are some pictures I have snapped with my iphone during the past week or two...
Photobucket

Yes, my husband was two-steppin' with Furlee around the living room. Sorry for the blurred picture, but this was too cute not to share! :)
Photobucket

The pups have found a new "fetch" toy. They fight over it a lot.
Photobucket
My husband and I were at Sonic the other night and Dominoes was there delivering a pizza. I found it quite comical.
Photobucket

We went to the grocery store and were craving chicken sketti. So, what does my husband do? He calls his Mom for her recipe :) I loved this.
Photobucket

Yeah. I can't help but get pen all over me when I sit at the computer. You'd think I'd put the cap on my pens. I never learn. People at work probably thought I never took a shower lol...& P.s.) It took three showers to get the ink off. Ha. Ha.
Photobucket

How cute is Mr. Furlee? He loves my old down comforter. :)
Photobucket

Like I said, lots of baking :)
Photobucket

Hubs surprised me with some roses :) :) :)
Photobucket

Pretty sunset :)
Photobucket

I love looking down and seeing my three boys. They make me so happy.
Photobucket

The one day we actually went Christmas shopping. I was pooped.
Photobucket

I met up with some friends last night and we had a lot of fun :)
Photobucket

The temperature on my car YESTERDAY. Happy 1st day of winter! :(

I saw Black Swan. Awesome movie. Natalie Portman better win a Golden Globe. Girl did amazing...

I also saw The A-Team last night at my brother's house and Ohhh Myyyy...Bradley Cooper...MmmmMmmmMmm. Hubby knows my obsession. It's cool.

And if you could pretty please pray for my friend Jenn and her family. Her father passed away yesterday after having complications from a gallbladder surgery. Any prayers you can say for my sweet friend would be very appreciated.

Now, I'm off. I have lots of shopping to do.

Have a wonderful day! :)

Randomness & an award.

12.07.2010

Hey lovelies :)

I am currently listening to Christmas music ("Gloryyyy toooo the newborn Kingggggg...") and all I have to say is be GLAD you can't hear me. I might break glass, but singing is fun. Especially when nobody is around to hear you. :)

So, what's up??? I am still slowly catching up on blogs, and I noticed a few new followers...HI LADIES! :) I am so so so so so so SO glad you are here. I will be back to blogging regularly, but I still have a few things I need to take care of before I go back to my normal blogging rituals ;) I hope to make some changes soon too to this thing, as well as comment more. I feel like I read and enjoy more than I read, enjoy, AND comment. I know how much I enjoy your comments, so I hope to return the favor. I am going to add that to my New Years Resolution List :) I honestly smile everytime I read one, and I appreciate your sweet notes. I really, REALLY do.

Things here are pretty good. Work is work, my husband is still amazing in every way possible, pups are loving to bark a lot lately, haha, but I still love them.

Speaking of loving my husband so much...This morning it was actually pretty chilly (in the 30's) and my sweet man started my car up and got it all warmed up so when I was ready, I could just hop in it and go! I love little sweet things like that.

And crazy, I've been wanting spaghetti lately, and today I was bound and determined to go to HEB after work to pick up the 'sketti stuff', bring it home and make it and then he calls and says, "BABE! Guesssss what!?...I got stuff for sketti night!" I mean seriously!? He read my mind. I didn't even tell him I planned on doing that. Gosh I sure do love him. And I find it so funny that little things like that make me so happy. I never thought I'd one day say, "I love my husband so much because he picks up groceries for dinner, and starts my car in the mornings when it's really cold!" Haha! I appreciate him, and I know he knows that. GO tell your man you love him today and how much you appreciate him. I bet he will smile! :)

Okay, so please forgive me BrittanyJane over at Live with Intention, I HAVE seen that you have given me a blog award!

I absolutely LOVE Christmas time, and I know I'm not alone when I say that. When hubs and I bought our house last April, one of the first things I couldn't wait to do was decorate the mantel and stairwell at CHRISTMAS TIME! I have never had a fireplace to hang stockings and I have never had a staircase to put lights and wreaths on. All year long I was planning on what I was going to do, and even cut out pictures, ideas, you name it because my mantel was going to be thebomb.com. Well, we had a few set backs this year, and decided we couldn't spend any extra money on Christmas decorations. SO, I did the best I could with what I already had from the year before and that's okay.

Due to busy schedules, we didn't get to decorate until TONIGHT, BUT it was probably one of the most fun nights I've had with my husband ever. We have A LOT of fun nights too...but this one was just hilariously? (is that a word? if not, it is now) memorable. We danced like idiots in the living room to techno music. We were flipping through the music channels to find Christmas music, and well, Drew decided to stop on the pop/techno channel. It stayed, and we danced like fools. I couldn't stop laughing...and I hate to tell you we have NO pictures of this. He would have probably be mortified if I did take them and post them for the world to see. I guess it's just a memory I can just tell you about, and not show you. It makes me laugh just typing this because he had some moves I've never seen before. THAT MAN...I swear...he's truly one of a kind. :) I love him.

After the dance fest, we decorated. We improvised, we cut corners, and you know what??? It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

I hope to get some shopping done this weekend. I know two boys that deserve something extra special this year.

WonderFULL Thanksgiving.

12.03.2010

Hello sweet lady friends! :)

I am back...atleast for the night anyway. I have missed y'all! It looks like I have A LOT of catching up to do. :) I am currently snuggled up in my sheets right now, feelin' all warm and toasty, listening to my sweet hubby and Piper sleep. I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little jealous of these two... I am SO tired, but I just can't sleep. They are off in la la land, and here I am, wide awake...feelin' and lookin' kinda zombie like. Sexy is right.

I guess while I am here, I will catch you up a little bit since I know you WANT TO KNOW! RIGHT!? ;)

Thanksgiving was awesome.
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Family, friends, fun, food...what more can a girl ask for? Thanksgiving morning I had a photoshoot with my cousin, and that was a lot of fun. We then went to my Mamaw's house and got our grub on.
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

It was a quiet Thanksgiving because a lot of people in my family got married this past year, and spent Thanksgiving with their new in-laws. There were no kids running around and laughing or screaming. Even though it wasn't our typical crazy/loud Thanksgiving, it was really nice. I ate wayyy too much, and now all my pants are pretty stinkin' snug. Wonderfullll.

Oh, and hubs and I did a turkey dance.
PhotobucketPhotobucket

My cousin talked me into going to a cemetery that Thursday night, and I have to say it was probably the scaredest I've been in a long time. I was a complete weenie. We kept ourselves entertained by singing The Little Mermaid in the cemetery parking lot waiting for them to show up. Yes, I'm almost 25. Awesomeness.

We hid behind some graves (Mr. & Mrs. Herren actually lol) and we talked a little bit. Well, I did most of the talking...they were a little quiet ;) My cousin and her boyfriend and his kids went out there because his daughter is really into that sort of stuff (ghosts, etc.) and so after the Texas A&M game, we headed out there to hide. They showed up shortly after and we had laser beams, and lights and were making noises, shaking bushes, getting up and walking really slow so she could see a figure in the distance. It was hilarious, and we got a few good screams out of her. I had fun, but I don't think I will ever be doing that again. LOL!

Friday I went to the deer lease with hubs and his family. That was a lot of fun, and I got another great Thanksgiving meal in my belly (*totally saying that in a Mike Meyer's voice*).
PhotobucketPhotobucket

That night we went back to my Mom's and went to my Aunt and Uncle's house, had dessert, and watched Family Man. Saturday I was supposed to have a photoshoot but they ended up cancelling because their new baby girl was being fussy. So, we layed around the house, and I worked on editing some pics, and then that night we went to my Uncle's Cabin on my Papaw's Ranch.
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

We "camped-out" and had hamburgers, smores, cheese dip, youuuu name it. We sat around the fire, ate some more, and played spades. The girls won (hollaaaa), but what else did you expect? I play to win baby! Pshhh.
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

We woke up at 7 and got our things ready to head to Houston for a photoshoot. Ahhh so much fun. I can't wait to show you the pictures! :)

Afterwards, we headed to League City (South of Houston) to meet my friend Amy at Alfred Angelo. I got to see her in her wedding dress and she was GORGEOUS! I can't wait for the big day in May!!! :)

We then headed back to Austin. That felt like the longest drive everrrrrrr which then lead to a Monday morning and a veryyyyy longggg work week.

Mk, well I am tired now. Finally. Sweet dreams :)

Xoxoxooozzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
